Jan 21 I would like to dedicate the following few months to food review of Brisbane restaurants.

The first one I'd like to highly recommend is Brasserie on the River inside the Stamford Plaza Hotel. This restaurant has unbeatable riverfront location right next to the City Botanical Garden with a sweeping river view facing both the Eagle Piers and Kangaroo Point. But the highlight is actually the food.

Unlike your average bland hotel restaurants, Brasserie offers excellent afternoon high tea, a long cherished British tradition that cannot be easily found around Brisbane. There are a few other choices, namely High Societea, Joseph Alexanders, but the one that stands out in both value, quality and ambience is most definitely Brasserie. The cost is 27.5 per person (as compared to over $33 for others), and you can do as much refill as possible on whatever items you wish. So in essence, it is a high tea buffet with service. If you are addicted to afternoon tea as I am, you definitely need to give Brasserie a try, just make sure that you always make a reservation since the place fills up rather quickly particularly on weekends. I recently spent a very pleasant afternoon there and am looking forward to going back very soon.
