September 30 West End's renowned Green Flea Market at Davies Park is thriving despite a couple setbacks. First, the site's giant fig trees were infected with a fungal disease (Phellinus Noxius). As a result, these trees were fenced up, reducing the area reserved for the market. Second, the council was considering moving the Market to another venue because it was just too popular. There is not enough parking space so the Market visitors often have to compete with those who go to Davies Park for other sports.

For me, Green Flea Market is such a huge convenience since it is a few steps away from my home. I wrote a letter to the council making suggestions and pleas for Market to stay, as a part of the petition of the Market supporters from the area. Luckily, the city council eventually decided to make Davies Park a permanent venue for the Market!

The Market is just like a carnival every Saturday.
