February 28, 2005	昆士蘭省真的是退休的天堂。除了物價很實惠以外，氣候溫和，景觀出色，而且政府對於老人福利非常上心。除了民間自辦的第三年紀大學外，政府主辦很多免費的活動，專門配合老人的興趣。比如說，為了吸引老人學習高爾夫，政府資助第一課完全免費。官方還定期舉行遠足、旅行、各種興趣班活動，全部都是免費，或者只收低於成本象征性的費用。所以我一直感嘆，來昆士蘭退休這個決定作得太正確了。
February 23, 2005	澳洲有專門為退休人士而設的第三年紀大學（University of Third Age, 簡稱U3A)。大學只是名稱，不過是一個互助的學習團體，並不發綬文憑，所有的老師與工作人員都是義務工作者，上課只需要交付非常便宜的場地租賃費，大約每課2澳元左右。其中提供的課程涉獵范圍非常廣泛，從各國語言歷史到實用的營養學、園藝學都有。我現在正在學習日語初級，希望不久就真的能在日本旅行的時候用上。 http://www3.griffith.edu.au/03/u3a/		網上英語教師 英文
February 18, 2005	Where I live, West End, is a historical neighborhood in the inner Brisbane suburbs that is undergoing decades of rejuvenation. Three decades ago, it was a neighborhood struggling with poverty and high crime rate. Lately, urban renewal has led to a facelift of the area and brought in many younger professionals and affluent residents who appreciate the historical and multi-cultural touch of the neighborhood, as well as the proximity to Brisbane's commercial hub. West End is also renowned for authentic ethnic cuisines including Greek, Turkish, Vietnamese and Thai. The red-brick house in West End that I am staring at in the photo bears a particular resemblance to our villa in Shanghai that was built in the 1920s. It brought back some sweet memories of the past.
February 12, 2005	Today there are some Chinese New Year celebrations at Brisbane Chinatown, including a lion parade and live performance sponsored by the Conrad Casino. Interestingly, most of the attendants or new year shoppers at Chinatown are not ethnic Chinese. Even the dance performers (as shown in the photo to the right) are not exclusively ethnic Chinese either. In fact, Chinese Taichi, Qigong and various types of martial arts are getting popular all over Australia among people from all walks of life.
