February 28, 2004	I went to the Roma Street Parkland today. It takes up hectares of land at the back of the Brisbane central transit station. Not a whole lot of local plants are grown in the park, instead, they have brought in some quite exotic tropical vegetation which I bet are high-maintenance. One can tell that the Queensland government has spared no expenses at the park, every facility and architectural design is chic, loaded with latest technologies, and kept spick and span. This is definitely a worthwhile attraction if you happen to drop by Brisbane. http://www.romastreetparkland.qld.gov.au/
February 22, 2004	曾經有個家長問過我有關澳洲留學的事宜。這裡有個官方網絡，我覺得作為初步介紹，資料非常齊全。有興趣的可以看以下的聯接： http://studyinaustralia.gov.au/Sia/zz/Home.htm 我個人十分鼓勵留學，讀萬卷書不如行萬裡路，在國外的學習生活是非常寶貴的經驗。但是我認為不必過早出國，最好是大學或者碩士階段，因為小孩已經成長，具有一定的自理自控能力，在無拘無束的環境中懂得自我鞭策，不會變得懶散，染上不良嗜好。而且，到了大學或以上階段，學生也可以自己兼職賺取生活費用，不僅是為了省錢，而是一種可貴的社會磨練。
February 17, 2004	我的寬頻斷了兩天，只好用撥號上網。可能澳洲的地方太大，寬頻網絡出錯頻繁，費用貴但是服務並不可靠。其實香港寬頻的速度也不高，但是勝在密度高，地方小，可以隨時讓維修人員上門察看。 澳洲的寬頻有三種：ADSL，cable和衛星。不過ADSL和cable的基本網絡提供都是Telstra壟斷，所以Telstra的網絡出現問題，無論你用哪一家寬頻營運商都死翹翹。衛星寬頻專門供住在邊遠地區的澳洲人使用，要是住在市郊有自己的房屋，也可以在屋頂裝一個接收碟。不過我住公寓，要在露台上裝一個衛星碟應該違反公契，所以只好使用Telstra網絡。		網上英語教師 英文
February 11, 2004	My favorite travel destination in the Southern hemisphere is Sydney, so far. It has lovely coves,  a sparkling harbour and gently sloped hillside dotted with historical homes.  Sydney also hosts one of the highest quality Chinese cuisines in the world, along with Hong Kong and Vancouver, B.C. in Canada. Sydney is a converging point for hundreds of thousands of first-generation immigrants from the Middle East and Southeast Asia who bring along with them their authentic home cuisine. As a result, it is also a world-renowned venue for fusion food (California is another). My favorite spot in Sydney is Manly, a unique stretch of sand bar that encloses the harbour from the open ocean. On weekends, most Aussies love to laze around on beaches, and Sydney residents are no exceptions. As one can imagine, Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, and therefore, the most advanced medical technology to treat skin cancer.
February 6, 2004	來到澳洲銀行業務還是跟著匯豐走，剛好匯豐很周到，為布里斯本的華人客戶組織了一個農歷新年晚餐，於是欣然前往，碰到了不少香港來的移民，倒是比想象中多。晚餐的地點在布里斯本市南部市郊Sunnybank，是新華人移民聚集的熱點，在那裡的商場可以全程國語（布里斯本台灣移民為主流）順暢無阻。 Sunnybank一帶本來房價很便宜，在90年代台灣移民大量湧入後，整個地區的房價，包括附近的郊區Robertson，McGregor等等都拼命上漲了兩倍不止，重演了香港移民在悉尼北岸搶高房價的光榮故事。所以澳洲地產中介看到港台移民都兩眼放光，服務態度特別好，啊，財神來了。
February 2, 2004	I am so excited to hear that Qantas is introducing a non-stop flight between Brisbane and Los Angeles. My daughter lives in northern California, and whenever she comes here to visit me, she has to fly into Sydney and then fetch a flight up to Brisbane, which takes another couple of hours. Brisbane is truly putting itself on the world map these days with more non-stop flight connections to Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand and the Philippines, and now, eventually America.  What I am expecting in the near future is a non-stop flight from Brisbane to Europe.
