Many may have heard of Springbrook, yet not many have had the opportunity to visit it, not to speak of the pleasure of a close scrutiny of Glow Worm, the endangered species. Unless you drive, the cost may put you off.  An average one-day tourist would rather stroll around the beaches to enjoy the panoramic seaview and embrace the nature rather than pay to join a local tour package for a couple of hours on the way for the sole purpose. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of a friend of mine, I was among the lucky few to be able to gain the access to the rare species for only a few dollars. And my curiosity was well gratified when the pitch dark cave was suddenly lit up by a full array of Glow Worms above, a sheer resemblance of the Milky Way!

Another highlight of the trip featured a zig-zag path lined with grotesquely-shaped trees and rocks left over by ancient volcanic eruptions. How I wished to take in the sunlight shedding through the thickness of the trees here and there and the misty gauze hovering the path with my digital camera, but I could only sighed at my utter clumsiness.  The path being so absorbing, the lookout at its end seemed to have sprung from nowhere, offering me a view to make me rapturous. Look! The whole lush green valley stretching out into the skyline is deep down there, another creation of a gigantic volcanic eruption!

April 4, 2005 While hurrying down the building for my walk, I was stopped by my good-natured on site manager with a question, which took me quite off guard, "Jessica, is there a problem with your washing machine?" "A problem?" I stared at him like a fool (I was almost tongue-tied). Noticing my embarrassment, he became more straightforward, "I mean the washing machine near the front of your door?  Is it yours?" "Of course not!" I snapped up off hand and heard him say, "It must be your next door’s. I will deal with this." I was overwhelmed. Only then did I realize that he was taking up even this rather personal issue. It saved me the trouble to speak to my neighbour, who had proved so forgetful as to leave it there for nearly a month!  And in a week the washing machine was no longer in sight. Everybody pays for the residential management, but  the quality of service here is just incomparable! Seeing is believing.
